Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrest Teenager for illegal Possession of Firearm

OUR FIRST REPORT THIS EVENING IS THAT; The Akwa Ibom state Police Command has arrested a 13-year-old boy, Samuel Sunday, for unlawful possession of a firearm at Ikot Ibiok village in Eket local Government Area, raising fresh concerns over the growing access to illegal weapons among minors.
Parading the suspect yesterday at the state police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, the state commissioner of police, CP Baba Azara represented by the command’s police public relations officer, PPRO, ASP Timfon John, stated that the teenager was arrested for allegedly brandishing a firearm and threatening pupils at saint Paul primary school Ikot Ibiok.
The PPRO also outlined the offenses linked to the suspects, to include cultism, child defilement, child trafficking, and child theft, unlawful possession of firearms, hard drugs, and illicit drinks.
While displaying the seized firearms, hard drugs, and large quantities of illicit drinks, the police command said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure public safety.
