Residents of Uyo Decry State of Economy, Lament High Cost of Living
Residents of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, have expressed concerns over the worsening economic situation in the country, saying the rising cost of fuel and essential commodities has made life increasingly difficult.
Speaking with our correspondent, Uwakmfon Walter, Many lament that under the current administration, the price of goods and services has skyrocketed, leaving ordinary Nigerians struggling to make ends meet. Some traders and consumers also said their purchasing power has been significantly reduced, making it hard to afford even basic necessities.
Commercial transport operators also complained about the cost of petrol, saying it has made their business unprofitable, as commuters are unwilling to pay increased fares. The ripple effect, they say, is felt across all sectors, with inflation worsening economic hardship.
In response to these concerns, residents have called on the federal government to take urgent measures to address the situation, including stabilizing fuel prices, curbing inflation, and implementing policies that would ease the financial burden on citizens.
