Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to be the Director-General of the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has been arrested by the police.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Okokon Iniedu, confirmed that Adeyemi was arrested by the Intelligence Response Team in Osun State following a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja after he failed to appear for arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation.
Adeyemi is accused of forging an appointment letter allegedly issued by President Bola Tinubu and signed by the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as forging official State House documents and falsely presenting himself as the head of the PFIPC.
However, the Presidency has denied the existence of the council, while President Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the matter. Adeyemi is expected to be produced before the court for arraignment on September 30.
