The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency-NiHSA, has warned of a high risk of riverine flooding across 15 states between September 19 and 25.
The agency urged residents in flood-prone communities to relocate to safer and higher ground as rising river levels could affect homes, schools, healthcare facilities, markets and farmlands.
States listed include Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Ebonyi, Benue, Anambra, Edo, Bayelsa, Enugu, Kogi, Delta, Abia, Taraba, Rivers and Lagos.
NiHSA also called on state governments to take urgent measures to protect residents in vulnerable communities.
