The Presidency has said that it is seeking to tackle insecurity through expanded vocational training and entrepreneurship programmes aimed at reducing youth vulnerability to crime and strengthening community resilience.
Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, Dr Abiola Arogundade, disclosed this in Abuja during a meeting with the Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, Major-General Adeyinka Famadewa. She said the proposed partnership would focus on economic empowerment, employability and sustainable livelihoods as complementary measures to conventional security operations.
Arogundade said the initiative would provide vulnerable youths with practical skills and economic opportunities to steer them away from crime and criminality. The proposed collaboration is expected to expand access to vocational education, entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities, particularly for young people at risk of criminal recruitment.
